Why Memory Prices Are Rising — And Why It Matters for Our LCD Projectors

1. DRAM (DDR) Price Surge

• According to TrendForce, DRAM contract prices are projected to increase overall by 15–20% in Q3 2025. 
• In particular, legacy DDR4 memory is especially tight: TrendForce expects consumer DDR4 contract prices to jump 40–45% in Q3. 
• Meanwhile, Samsung has reportedly raised some memory-chip contract prices by 30–60% compared to September, driven by strong demand from AI data-center builds. 
• For example, 32 GB DDR5 modules reportedly rose from US$149 to US$239. 
• On the spot-market side, TrendForce reports that DDR5 spot prices have surged 307% since early September. 

2. eMMC / NAND Flash Pricing Pressure

• TrendForce projects that NAND Flash contract prices (which include eMMC) will rise by 5–10% in Q4 2025. 
• Their report notes that eMMC / UFS supply is being squeezed because suppliers are prioritizing enterprise SSDs (which are more profitable), reducing available capacity for low-end embedded storage. 
• As a result of tighter supply and shifting production, eMMC / UFS contract prices are under upward pressure. 

3. Impact on LCD Projector Costs

• Our LCD projectors use DRAM (for image processing, frame buffering) and eMMC (for firmware, system storage). When memory component costs rise, our Bill of Materials (BOM) for each unit goes up.
• Given the magnitude of memory cost increases, some of this additional cost needs to be passed on, otherwise margin erosion is substantial.
• There is also procurement risk: with memory tighter, lead times become longer and prices more volatile. To secure supply, we may need to place orders earlier or pay premium, which further affects cost structure.

Bottom line for our customers: The global memory market is experiencing a structural cost uptrend driven by AI-data center demand and constrained supply. This is a direct contributing factor to cost increases in our LCD projectors. We are proactively managing this by optimizing our procurement, but some of the impact is unavoidable — hence the price adjustments.
